It was my grandmother’s old house. Apparently she had died because all the furniture had been removed, the carpets torn up, and both the back and front doors were missing although the front still had its screen door.
The house had been creepy before, but it was worse now. Wooden floorboards creaked and everything seemed to be in grayscale. The swimming pool, long since filled in with sand, was now a swamp covered in greenish slime and bubbling from the movement of unseen creatures. As we left through the front, we stopped on the porch because I heard a splashing noise. The front right side of the property was flooded all the way up to the porch, and I could hear a “splash-splash-splash” of something swimming closer. Then, at the edge of the porch, a head popped up. It looked like one of those old cupie dolls. It hopped up onto the porch, covered in algae slime and began walking towards us.
We escaped to the road, where my dad was waiting for us in his truck.
